How to Install WordPress Locally for FREE (Mac or PC)

Why build “locally”?
When you build your WordPress “locally”, it means that you can practice building your site on your own computer or laptop. Therefore, you don’t need to purchase a domain name or hosting before starting.
The Limitation?
Since everything is stored on your own computer, other people won’t be able to access your website.
Therefore, once you’ve completed your website – you will need to purchase a domain name (i.e. yourname.com) and host (storage for website) and transfer it. Luckily, this can normally be done in a few minutes and is relatively affordable.
How to Get Started
Step 1: Go to Localwp
This is a free software we use.
By using Localwp, you can easily manage multiple WordPress installations and also share your website with others to view (using the live link feature).
Step 2: Download & Install for Free
Choose the correct version (Mac/PC/Linux)
Step 3: Open “Local”
Step 4: Click on the “+” Icon to Add New Site (Bottom Left)
Step 5: Add Site Name
Step 6: Add Username, Password & Email (Use to Log in Later)
Step 7: Start site and Click on “Admin” to log in to your WordPress dashboard.
That’s it!
Now you can start building your WordPress website.
Once you are done, you can enable “live links” – this will allow you to share a custom link with others so that they can see your website as long your computer is on and connect to the internet.
