How to Connect Godaddy Domain name to Siteground Hosting

So if you’ve recently bought your domain name (e.g. yourname.com) from Godaddy but your hosting from Siteground – then I’ll show you how to connect it together so you can start creating your website.

You can watch the video below or follow the step by step written instructions.

This is super easy so let’s get straight into it!

Step 1: Login to your Siteground Account

(If you don’t have an account, click here to sign up for web hosting with siteground – I recommend the startup plan for most beginners. Or If you want to host multiple websites get the Growbig)

Step 2: Navigate to “Websites” on the top right

Step 3: Select Transfer Domain

Step 4:  Add your domain name. E.g. yourdomain.com > “Skip & Create Empty Site”

Step 5: Login to Godaddy Account

Step 6. Navigate to your domains and click on DNS (You’ll need to find Manage DNS – as sometimes the user interface can change)

Step 7. Copy & Paste nameservers from Siteground to Godaddy

Step 8. Save.

Step 9. To install WordPress, navigate to Site Tools > WordPress > Install & Manage

Step 10. Select WordPress and Fill in details then Install

Step 11. Navigate to Security > SSL Manager > Install Free SSL

Step 12.  Login to WordPress

Note: It may take 15 minutes for it to connect. So take a break and come back.

Step 13. Go to Plugins > Add New > Really Simple SSL > Install & Activate

Step 14. Re-Login by going to yourdomain.com/wp-admin

Step 15. Now you are done, and can start building your blog or website.

P.S. if you want to hide your site to the public – you can use this coming soon plugin. So only you will be able to view it – if you’re logged in.

Thank you!
